WESTERN ALLSTARS 4-28 Notes & Winners

It was another great night of Racing for the Western Allstars at Bakersfield Speedway on Saturday night for the Kay Automotive Distributors 30. 37 cars checked in to do battle and battle they did. Some racers had called in earlier in the week saying they were not going to make it, but with 37 cars, the support from the racers was still outstanding. Mike Johnson has really been on track, since having Billy Moyer come out and help him step up his program. As everyone can see, it was a wise investement. (I hear he is bringing Richard Simmons out this week, to help get his eating on the right track) It was great to see some other racers stepping up and running great. Dino Napier. Jeff Dunham and Larry Childress all had great showings during the night. It was also nice to see some new faces at a Western Allstars Event. Anthony Restad from Santa Rosa, Chad Jones from Temecula and Jay Marks from Bakersfield all made first time appearances with the WAS. Reldon Hatch made his first visit to Bakersfield Speedway, all the way from Yerington,NV (over 400 miles). The A-Main saw some great racing action thru-out the pack with 3 drivers moving up 8 positions. Chris Shannon came away with the Little Darlins Child Care hard charger award, by finishing the highest with a 4th. Mike Johnson was untouchable and worked his way thru traffic like he was in a turn style at McDonalds. It was also great to have all the drivers spend time with the fans on the front straight away after the A-Main. Here are the nightly winners

Bob Jenkins to MC Western Allstars Banquet

The Western Allstars to have Bob Jenkins MC 2007 Banquet

The Western Allstars will have Bob Jenkins one of auto racings most famous announcers mc their end of year banquet. Bob Jenkins has been a motor sports announcing icon since 1979. Among the many achievements on Jenkins resume are being a television announcer for The Brickyard 400 and the Indy 500. Jenkins has been the host of various auto racing shows for ESPN and ABC. “Having someone like Bob Jenkins who has mc’s banquets for NASCAR, be the mc for the Western Allstars banquet is a huge deal,” noted series promoter Chris Kearns. “It will be great having someone with Bob Jenkins credentials handing our drivers their end of year point fund money and trophies.” The Western Allstar Super Dirt Late Model drivers will really be stepping it up in 2007 and they deserve the notoriety of having Bob Jenkins mc their banquet, continued Kearns.

“Bob Jenkins is so synonymous with motor sports announcing that when Days of Thunder and Talladega Nights were cast he was picked to be the announcer and host in both movies,” stated Kearns.

The Western Allstars Banquet will be in Jan ’08 in Bakersfield, Ca.

Western Allstars 3-31 Kings Speedway

It was a great night of racing for the Western Allstars at Kings Speedway. We had 36 cars in the pits (37 if you count the Chris Sevisend owned Victory Circle that is heading to the Charlotte, NC) I have got to first start by thanking Frank Diaz and Kings Speedway for recognizing that we had run a clean efficient show all night and not even attempting to cut our Main Event short, even though it started @ 11pm. All of the Kings Speedway officials were very courteous to our racers and they all did a great job. For the little time they have worked together, they ran things very well. The Western Allstars drivers all did an unbelievable driving job on a tricky track, which made for good clean racing. The racing in our B-Mains was great and I thought our A-MAIN was a hell of a show. There was more than once I saw 3 wide racing going into turn 3 mid-pack. I also need to thank the Western Allstars officials for making me look good. They actually run the show (scoring, line ups giveaways, registration, etc.) while I run around like a chicken with my head cut off. So Thank you to Jennifer Biggs, Melissa Bohard, Jamie Valla, Jason V, Doug and Debbie Jeffers, Lorinda Kearns ,Darrin Jackson and Blade.
